The following is a copy of the Z-20-07 Consumer Letter. Vehicles affected by the bulletin will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,
This notice is sent to you in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle.
The reason for this notice
Polaris recently determined that under certain operating conditions, some 2020-2021 RZR models may have an increased risk of primary (drive) clutch failure. Certain primary clutch failures can cause debris and/or clutch components to be ejected from the clutch housing, posing a potential injury hazard to consumers. This condition typically occurs under high-load, low speed conditions (high boost vehicle launch, high RPM belt slip, launching with simultaneous brake and throttle application).
Polaris has released an updated inspection and repair procedure to inspect the primary clutch balance hole (drill hole) locations and replace the primary clutch if necessary. This notification has been sent to you to inform you that an inspection and repair procedure is now available.
What you should do
Contact your authorized Polaris Dealer to schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris Dealer. Vehicle inspection should take approximately 30 minutes. Results of the inspection will determine if further repairs are needed. When making contact with your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule and how long they will need to keep your vehicle.
DO NOT OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL THIS SAFETY RECALL HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY YOUR DEALER.
What your dealership will do
To address this concern, Polaris has authorized your dealer to inspect the primary clutch and replace if necessary. This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.
This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own this vehicle, or if some of the contact information in this notice is incorrect, please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership. Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within 10 days.
