The following is a copy of the Z-20-05 Consumer Letter. Vehicles affected by the bulletin will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,
This notice is sent to you in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and in accordance with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person. Our records show you have purchased an affected vehicle.
The reason for this notice:
Polaris recently received notice from a seat belt supplier, IMMI, that certain 4-point and 6-point seat belt harnesses IMMI provided to Polaris may have been manufactured with missing belt stitching. Our records indicate that you have purchased a potentially affected vehicle.
What you should do:
Contact your authorized Polaris Dealer to schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs (if needed) performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized Polaris Dealer. The inspection should take approximately 12 minutes. When making contact with your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule and how long they will need to keep your vehicle.
DO NOT OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL THIS SAFETY RECALL HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY YOUR DEALER.
What your dealership will do:
To address this concern, Polaris has authorized your dealer to inspect and replace (if needed) affected seat belt harnesses. This work will be performed by your dealer at no cost to you.
This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own this vehicle, or if some of the contact information in this notice is incorrect, please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership. Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within 10 days.
