King of the Hammers is nothing short of the most grueling and difficult, one-day side-by-side race in the world. It’s designed to not just challenge racers, but nearly eliminate them from competition. Known simply by its fans and those who race it as “The Hammers” Mitch Guthrie Sr. is its king. An off-road enthusiast who developed a penchant for rock crawling during the 90s, Mitch Sr’s competitive nature drew him to become the best in the business, winning a Pro Rock championship in 2004. Then he was given a taste of a Polaris RZR and conquering the King of the Hammers has been his mission ever since. Mitch Sr. only races once race a year – King of the Hammers – but rest assured he puts all of his energy and focus into the Hammers. His only goal is to win it all, and over the past 11 years, Mitch Guthrie Sr. has done just that 6 times, including an unprecedented 4 times in a row from 2011 to 2014. This past February, Mitch found himself on the KOH podium once again, finishing third in the UTV class while his son, Mitch Guthrie Jr. took the win for back-to-back victories.
